But it is FREE and it offers a better starting point to make a choice than any other Jeep steering article I have seen in any magazine. Note that I never said that this article contained all the information you need. Such articles are entirely useless for somebody trying to pick a mod for a JK or TJ or YJ. Not to mention, far too much of the coverage in CRAWL is for non-Jeep parts and full-on competition parts that have no place in a Jeep. The absolute bottom of the barrel for comparison articles is CRAWL, who typically write about a single kit and how they modified it for a non-stock application. That is more than I have ever seen in Four Wheeler or any of the other mags. Note also that Jp has done a more comprehensive comparison than anyone else by covering 13 steering kits in one article. They publish the experiences of the article authors and magazine editors, persons typically better informed than any individual Jeep owner. I'd consider some sort of heim joint, but my biggest concern is how can I attach the drag link to the tie rod in a way that the drag link won't twist the tie rod like it does now? I realize any work done to a D30 is "polishing a turd", but I'm not ready to swap axles just yet and need to make this one last a bit longer. It's silly to expect a magazine to publish the opinions of Forum members. What are my options to replace this steering setup? I could go with Currie, but it's pricey and I'd have to buy new D30 knuckles since I reamed these. It's to the point where it's making the Jeep less fun to drive and I want to finally address this. I also tried "pre-twisting" the drag link's balljoints to take up any slack, but that doesn't really seem to help enough, either. I installed some poly bushings under the tie rod's balljoints (visible in the above pic) and it's helped, but didn't fix the problem. The result is a lot of dead space in the steering. When turning the steering wheel, the draglink's motion ends up rotating the ball joints in both the drag link and the tie rod. It's held up great for me, but there's a problem.
